Word To Your Mother
I am terrible at social media, coming and going as I have to, rarely staying for long.
We got an Instagram account for the Foundation when a grant application required it. We are finally back on Facebook because my nearly-adult-children are asking me to be, and my nieces and nephews hang out there. I think that’s barely all that I can handle.
And also? The dictionary account is my favorite thing ever. Here is what they posted yesterday on Mother’s Day:
I laughed really hard, like spit-orange-juice-out-my-nose hard.
And my librarian mother would have loved it.
That was all I needed to face the Day of the Mothers.
It’s hard for some of us, you know? Complicated? Tragic.
Childhood trauma and deprivation is complicated enough, but the roller coaster of adulthood with our mothers is complicated and tragic for some of us, too.
And so are some of the endings.
